RunRX℠

At TherapydiaSF, we promote safe training strategies for improved performance and injury prevention.  As runners, TherapydiaSF PT’s understand your passion for running and are dedicated to helping you achieve all of your goals.  Developed by Sydney James after working with numerous San Francisco running groups and with the evidenced-based RunSafe Clinic at UCSF, RunRx℠ is a comprehensive running assessment designed to identify running mechanics that may predispose a runner to injury and to create a plan to address any altered mechanics. You will undergo a thorough exam of strength, flexibility, movement patterns and running form, combining current technology with other assessment techniques.  After reviewing findings with a physical therapist, each client will receive a personalized assessment and plan. Whether a competitive athlete looking for the next endurance challenge, or brand new to the sport of running, RunRx℠ is appropriate for runners of all levels.

  •      Are looking to start a running program
  •      Are hoping to progress beyond their current running routine
  •      Want to ensure that their form and habits are less likely to lead to future injury
  •      Want to run faster and more efficiently

  •      Shorts or running tights

Online RunRx℠  Assessment

Receive your RunRx℠  video run assessment in four easy steps:

1. Create and submit your running video

How to create your running video

  • Use any recording device such as an iPhone, iPad or a video camera.  You will be recording approximately 5 minutes of video, so make sure you have plenty of space on your device.
  • Ask a friend to help you record, or set the recording device on a tripod at approximately hip level.
  • Please wear shorts or running tights, a fitted shirt or one that you can tuck in, and the shoes you would most like assessed.
  • Run on a treadmill while recording a full body view from the back for 30 seconds and a full body view from the side for 30 seconds.
  •  If you do not have access to a treadmill, have a friend follow you from behind with the camera.  Then have them run alongside to capture your run from the side.  Alternatively, you can capture both shots by yourself;  run towards and away from your camera in 20-30 second intervals. Next, run by your recording device 5 times to capture your stride from the side.
  • Run at a pace you would typically run  3-5 miles.

2. Saving and sending your running video

Dropbox: This free Cloud-based service is a convenient way to store and share large files.  Once you have created your free account and uploaded your video at Dropbox.com, share a link to the video with hello@therapydiasf.com

Email: send your video to hello@therapydiasf.com.  If your video is too long to be emailed, you will need to use the Dropbox option.  Please be sure to include your name and best contact number.

3. Submit payment

Once we have received your video, our office manager will contact you to complete payment.  We accept all major credit cards, cash, or check.

4. Receive results

Your RunRx Assessment summary will be emailed to you within 3 business days.  This will include tips, cues, and exercises from the therapists at TPSF to enhance and improve your running. Once you’ve implemented our ideas and suggestions, let us know how you’re running.  We love hearing running success stories!
